The Grade 2 Seed, Scat, Habitat life science unit starts off with students observing a picture of scat containing seeds. Students create a model that is continuously revised throughout the unit to explain multiple relationships between plants and animals. Students observe plants growing, learn about pollination and seed dispersal, and apply their learning to engineer a hand pollinator. The unit lessons intentionally include many structured language activities to engage and increase accessibility for all students, including Emerging Multilingual students.
