Coherence

Coherence refers to conceptual building of knowledge and skills over the course of lessons, units, or years of instruction. This is in contrast to asking students to learn discrete pieces of content.

This brief resource about phenomena was developed for educators, and describes how phenomena can be used in NGSS classrooms to drive teaching and learning. In addition, the three minute video interview with Brian Reiser introduces phenomena and their connection to the NGSS and three-dimensional learning.

 "Bundles" are groups of standards arranged together to create the endpoints for units of instruction. Bundling is just one step in a curriculum development process; many other steps are required to create instructional materials designed for the NGSS.
